Cook until quinoa is tender and the white spiral threads appear around each grain, usually when all of the water is absorbed. Cooks in 12 to 15 minutes. 3. Remove from heat, fluff with a fork and serve. Enjoy! For variety try: 1. Replace the water with vegetable, chicken, beef or seafood stick to complement your entree. 2. Toward the end of cooking and 1 or 2 teaspoons of butter, olive or nut oil. Make it a main dish! To the prepared quinoa add: 1. 1 cup cooked and diced or pulled poultry, shrimp, beef, or tofu. 2. 1/2 to 1 cup cooked vegetables such as peas, green beans, broccoli florets, sliced or diced mushrooms, spinach, kale, asparagus, summer or winter squash or sweet potatoes. 3. 1/4 to 1/2 cup diced, cooked onions, bell peppers or artichoke hearts.
